KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE: MORE VARIETY, MORE ALTERNATIVES, MORE SCARFACE 1920
over 2 years ago – Tue, Jul 13, 2021 at 03:36:08 PM

Just over 72 hours. Three days. It's what's left of the Kickstarter campaign for Scarface 1920, which started with a spectacular “funded in 55 minutes” and has just reached an even more incredible 655,000€. It is not a round number, but it does have a jackpot: 3 new Jobs!

Those of us who have played Scarface 1920 several times know about the importance of Jobs, their impact and the enormous depth they bring to the games. What's more, some YouTubers like Alex from BoardGameCo, who have played considerably less than us, have also highlighted the role of these cards in the game. Well, our last stretch goal is a Kickstarter Exclusive that includes no more and no less than three new Jobs.

As we have explained recently, players will be able to carry out Jobs of all kinds, some instant and others permanent, that will affect the power of the gang, the strength they have in the neighborhoods or their political influence, among other things. All of these Jobs take place in the underworld, one of the hot spots on the Chicago map.

And what is the content of these cards? They are still being defined, but we already know the theme on each one of them: one will serve to rob trucks of the enemy gangs, another to bathe in crowds as a new member of the political establishment and the third will serve to extort some businesses.

In short, three new cards that add more depth to each of the Scarface 1920 games, which are exclusive to those who have bet on us on Kickstarter and which open the way to the last meters of the campaign. We still have a few surprises out there, will you join us?

STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED… AND SOME BIG NEWS
over 2 years ago – Tue, Jul 13, 2021 at 07:23:11 AM

Hi There! We are back to explain something that we had already mentioned in the previous update, but that has been confirmed now: we have unlocked the linen finish for all the Scarface 1920 cards. This improvement for the game is one of the most popular demands since we started the game campaign together with, precisely, the following stretch goal: the Gametrayz inserts. By the way, things are speeding up and it is getting closer...

But today we are not just writing to congratulate you on unlocking the linen finish, but to inform you of two important news regarding the campaign.

New Add-on: plastic dollars!

Although it is not the star of Scarface 1920, money plays a key role in the battle for Chicago. At the end of the day, the winner will be the player who has amassed the most power, which will end up being the player who has raised most money with his game strategy. Well, all those who are interested in upgrading the Scarface 1920 dollars to play with high quality plastic, or anyone who wants an extra pack of dollars to use them in other board games (believe me, they will be very useful), you can purchase the new Add-on that includes 110 plastic dollars of different values at a price of 20€

By the way, the bills come in a bank robber-type cloth bag, like a small version of the one John Dillinger or Machine Gun Kelly used. Didn't we tell you that Scarface 1920 is a super immersive game?

Two new pledges: King of Chicago Pledge and All In Pledge

After adding the new plastic dollars to the campaing, just a few days after presenting the neoprene playmat, we asked ourselves a question: would it be worth creating a specific pledge with these Add-ons? This is how the King of Chicago Pledge was born, which contains everything that the Big Boss Pledge offers, but also plastic dollars and neoprene. Something like a luxury version of Scarface 1920. It costs 174€.

The latest news of the day follows the line of the Pledges and comes to answer another of the requests that we have seen in the comments from day one: "Will there be an All In Pledge?" Today we can finally give an answer: YES! And what does that All In Pledge includes? Everything you can read in the image below. In other words, the definitive pledge for those who have really fallen in love with the Scarface 1920 universe. It costs 210€ (about $249), which represents a saving of almost 40 € on the total price of the pack.

The next time we talk I guess it will be because we already have the Gametrayz insert with us. See you soon!

ABOUT ADD-ONS, STRETCH GOALS AND OTHER SURPRISES
over 2 years ago – Thu, Jul 08, 2021 at 04:02:12 AM

Three weeks have passed since the Kickstarter campaign for Scarface 1920 was launched. Three weeks in which, with more or less success, we have tried to read all your comments - public and private - and give you the fastest and most satisfactory response possible.

In these three weeks we have read many incredible proposals and ideas, and it would be a lie if I said that we have not taken good note of them for future expansions and ideas. Who knows, right? Each one of these comments has helped us to make a better Kickstarter campaign, or at least a campaign more adjusted to your requests.

Therefore, today we want to talk about some of the new stuff that we have added in the last hours to Kickstarter and that responds to many of the comments that you have left us from day one. Two of them are Add-ons, which you can already see in their corresponding section, and another refers to the next stretch goal. Let 's see them!

LINEN FINISH FOR ALL CARDS STRETCH GOAL

One of the most repeated requests from you since the beginning of the campaign is that the Scarface 1920 cards should be of the highest quality. Well, if we reach the next stretch goal, we will unlock the linen finish. To tell the truth, the spectacular designs of our friend Antonio Stappaerts (thanks, genius) deserve some cards to match. Come on, we are almost there.

...And then what?

I'll confess one thing: the Linen finish is not the last stretch goal of the Scarface 1920 campaign. Not even the penultimate. We have saved (at least) a couple more surprises that we know you will love because they both respond to many of those comments that we have been reading almost from day one. One of them is amazing, and the other is awesome. We cannot make everyone happy, but we are going to make the final stretch of the campaign very exciting for all while trying. See you soon!

THE ENFORCERS EXPANSION PACK: “RAVEN” KWIATKOWSKI (3/3)
over 2 years ago – Wed, Jul 07, 2021 at 04:47:07 AM

He stepped down from the box, walked a couple of steps with his eyes straight ahead until he was in front of the mirror, stopped and stretched his arms. That move revealed the luxurious gold watch that he wore on his left wrist. "I'll keep it," she told the tailor. He took a wad of dollars out of the briefcase and put them on the counter. The tailor stared at the money and tried to say, "It will cost you ..." He couldn't finish the sentence. Michael Kwiatkowski, better known as Raven, picked up the briefcase from the floor, gripped his mysterious cane tightly, and flashed a smile: "Keep the change".

Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Raven had left much of his family behind to do business in Chicago, where there was a large Polish community and many opportunities at the expense of Prohibition. However, he worked alone. He had sublimated the art of robbery and extortion. He didn't need to drive the streets of Chicago fighting like those petty thugs. Raven selected his bullets very well: each one of them had to be used to open his path or to "change their minds" to the most stubborn. Yes, he was a white-collar thief, and although he never ran away in dangerous situations, he preferred to play his cards wisely.

When he left the tailor shop, Raven climbed into his luxurious Phantom and gave instructions to his chauffeur. "Take me to the Art Institute of Chicago, please". He did not like art, but he did like the smell of money that each one of those works that the upper classes of Chicago admired. He had set the next target for himself. It was a commission. Child's play for him.

It's here! Kickstarter folks, let's give a warm welcome to Michael “Raven” Kwiatkowski, a mysterious fellow of Polish origin, luxury lover and extortion genius. Raven is the third of the Enforcers and completes the Expansion Pack which, as you know, is exclusively free for all Kickstarter backers. Congratulations!

In case someone skipped the previous updates, the Enforcers are part of an Expansion Pack that adds more depth to the multiplayer mode and important new features for the “solo mode”. Each of these Enforcers is accompanied by its miniature, its Enforcer card for multiplayer mode and a card for the "solo mode". Should we see Raven's powers?

 "Raven" Kwiatkowski in multiplayer mode

Our new Polish friend, as I have told you, is a subtle thief and a professional extortionist. And he is also a great leader. His main skill is that he can send one of his gang’s thugs to the headquarters from anywhere on the board, for example the Underworld... or the prison. That will increase the crime rate of the gang, but what is the problem with being evil if the occasion deserves it.

His passive skill connects directly with his enormous ability for extortion. If Raven is in a district where a sale is made, the player who does the sale pays the player who controls the Polish as many dollars as his crime rate level. Also, and here's a major game changer: the player who has done the sale can move Raven anywhere on the board. What a headache this Raven is...

"Raven" Kwiatkowski in solo mode

The Enforcers Expansion Pack proposes challenges of varying difficulty for players. If Alina Ivankova is the first level and Tom Lee the second, "Raven" Kwiatkowski is the most difficult opponent for this game mode. The key, in this sense, lies in the power of his skills and the ability to optimize his actions.

In his case, Raven can, between turns, save the unused action cubes and use them in a later turn. In addition, whenever there is a reorganization phase, the guy with the baton can use jobs to lower his gang’s crime rate and raise that of the rival’s. I mean, if Raven takes a step back, it's because he's running for his next hit. Didn't I tell you it's a real headache?

With Raven, The Enforcers Expansion Pack is now complete, and free only for those who have backed us during the Kickstarter campaign. Many thanks to all of you who have made this possible. Oh, and this is not over, we still have a few VERY important surprises in the drawer... Ready?

KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE: MOONSHINERS, A UNIQUE DEALER
over 2 years ago – Mon, Jul 05, 2021 at 03:05:45 AM

After meeting Tom Lee, the second of the Enforcers, we return to the path of the cards that extend the game exclusively for Kickstarter backers. In this case, with one of the most special dealers in the game: Moonshiners.

Moonshine refers to any type of alcohol, usually whiskey or rum, that is made in secret to avoid prohibition or taxes. In the United States, Moonshiners proliferated during Prohibition and owe their name to the fact that they used to work at night, under the light of the moon, to avoid being seen by legal authorities. They also transported alcohol at night, with their car lights off, from the farms where they had their productions to the city.

Well, in Scarface 1920, the Moonshiners dealer is the only one that can be carried out using a muscle point or an influence point, at the player's choice. In return, he receives two barrels of alcohol, which undoubtedly makes for a powerful card.

By the way, one of the films that best portrays the figure of the Moonshiners is Lawless (2012), starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Gary Oldman. The three actors play the Bondurant brothers, who turned Virginia's Franklin County into “the moonshine capital of the world”, as it was the region in the United States where the most alcohol was produced illegally.

Did you know that the Bondurant Brothers have a card in the game? And did you know that all the historical characters of Scarface 1920 are collected in one article? Check it out as our third Enforcer arrives, “Raven” Kwiatkowski.
