THE ENFORCERS EXPANSION PACK: TOM LEE (2/3)
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jul 03, 2021 at 11:27:32 PM

He finished his tea and adjusted his jacket. He put on his favourite hat and looked at himself in the mirror. He didn't look bad for being dead. Yes, Tom Lee was dead. A massive funeral had sealed his official farewell to New York a few months ago. Leaving the city that he had once controlled was not easy for him, but the open war he had with Mock Duck's Hip Sing Tong left him no other way out. That criminal only stopped when he saw his enemies in a coffin. And that's what he gave him.

Dying to start from scratch. In Chicago. Away from his New York, but safe. That was the idea of the reborn Tom Lee, who thanks to his cunning and his business experience had already managed to thrive on the South Side of the Windy City. After all, he had controlled most of the gambling, prostitution and opium in Chinatown a few years ago.

He looked at himself in the mirror again before leaving the house. He picked up his weapons and prepared himself for a new day's work. Tom Lee didn't have too many friends. He preferred not to bond with anyone, partly because he was afraid of being recognized, partly because he had only one thing on his mind: to return to New York to tear Mock Duck apart and restore power to On Leong Tong, his gang.

Kickstarter folks, let's give a warm welcome to Tom Lee, the second member of The Enforcers, the Scarface 1920 expansion that is free only to everyone who has backed the campaign. Welcome Tom!

As we told you a couple updates ago, the Enforcers are part of an Expansion Pack that adds more depth to the multiplayer mode and important new features for the “solo mode”. Each of these Enforcers is accompanied by its miniature, the Enforcer card for multiplayer mode and a card for the "solo mode" which, in Tom Lee's case, is two cards.

Tom Lee in multiplayer

Tom Lee is a businessman. He dominated the gambling and prostitution of his neighborhood in New York, where he was known as "the mayor of Chinatown”. For this reason, in Scarface 1920 Tom Lee is a Vice-type criminal and his main ability offers the possibility of placing a business marker in a neighborhood of that district or adjacent districts. In addition, he allows you to charge $2 for each business token you have. This guy is a gold mine.

As we mentioned, the Enforcers also have a powerful passive ability that, in the case of our new Chinese friend, is fantastic for consolidating your territories and being a headache for your enemies on the streets of Chicago. Tom Lee grants two additional defense points in the districts he is in.

Tom Lee in solo mode

The Enforcers expansion adds more depth and variety to the solo mode. In addition to Alina Ivankova, those who have the Expansion Pack will be able to play Solo Mode games against Tom Lee and the third Enforcer, whose identity we have already revealed: “Raven” Kwiatkowski. Sounds like Polish, right?

When we face Tom Lee alone, whose difficulty level is higher than Alina's, the former leader of On Leong Tong will have a starting deck of seven cards -the rest of the Enforcers start with six- with the seventh being one more special, powerful and thematic card: it will affect business, where Tom Lee made history in New York before escaping to Chicago. In fact, his ability says that, as long as there is a reorganization phase, Tom Lee will be able to make resource sales to the authorities for each job he has. Didn't I tell you it's a gold mine?

KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE: AN EYE ON THE NEWSPAPER
almost 3 years ago – Fri, Jul 02, 2021 at 01:56:05 AM

In Scarface 1920, the fight for the throne of Chicago runs parallel to the history of the time. A turbulent time that, among other things, featured two of the News that you have just unlocked and that will only be available to those who have backed the Scarface 1920 campaign on Kickstarter.

What are these two News cards and what effect will they have on the game? Although we are still finishing it, we already know more or less their effects...

  •  Black Sox Trial: One of the biggest scandals in the history of the sports occurred in the 1919 World Series, when eight members of the Black Sox team were accused of throwing the game against the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for a large financial compensation. Well, the media trial started in 1921, and in Scarface that news will have an impact on some of the gang bosses, who will be accused of match-fixing. Maybe from having too many gamblers on his deck? Or for being too high in the crime rate?
  •  Auto Show Opens: Not everything is bad news in the headlines of Scarface 1920. In 1901 was held the the first edition of the Chicago Auto Show, the largest in the United States, an important event that during the 20s and 30s was considered the “National Auto Show ”. In Scarface 1920, the celebration of the Auto Show will make it easier to get a new car for the gang.

That said, have you seen what the next stretch goal is? His name is Tom Lee, he is the second member of the Enforcers (the first was Alina, remember) and, like the entire Expansion Pack, it will be free for all Scarface 1920 backers. Go for him!

THE ENFORCERS EXPANSION PACK: ALINA IVANKOVA (1/3)
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 01, 2021 at 09:34:43 AM

She had not slept well. It had been a long time since she had managed to get more than two or three hours of sleep in a row. As soon as she closed her eyes, memories of the war struck her head. That mixture of blood and cold, ice and pain.

She had left dozens of corpses in her wake, and she never looked back. Nothing was more important than the revolution. Destroy the classes, control the means of production. Stripping of their wealth from those who had always looked down on them... and submit them to the will of the people. She smiled as she remembered those moments of glory with her comrades, although she quickly twisted her face. She had never wanted to escape from Russia, but she had no choice. She felt disappointed with the political direction of the country, and she never understood what they did to her parents, humble peasants who had given their health so that she could have a better life. Yes, that was what kept her from sleeping well.

When she finished dressing, she headed towards the large dining room of her house. Things weren’t bad since she arrived in Chicago thanks to the support of those Russians she had faced a few years earlier. White Russians, they were called, although to her they simply had always been privileged. Her fate had forced her to swallow hard on more than one occasion, and to shake hands with people she would like to feed to her dogs, but she hadn't had too many options.

She finished her coffee and stood up. She took her favorite weapon and dressed in the military coat she still had. Soon after, a luxurious Cadillac pulled up in front of her door with the engine running. Alina Ivankova approached the car with clenched teeth and slammed her gun on the car window: “I've said thousands of times that I don't need a driver. Oh, and tell your boss we're not friends. And that as soon as I can, I will be nothing more than a memory for him and for this disgusting city”.

The time has come! Friends, let me introduce you to one of the most anticipated women of the Scarface 1920 campaign: Alina Ivankova. This charming lady is one of the great stars of The Enforcers Expansion Pack, an expansion that we are giving for free to our backers. The Enforcers adds more depth to the multiplayer mode and important new features for the solo mode. Did I already say that it is an exclusive offer for you, backers? After the campaign this expansion will be sold separately, so this will be the only chance you will have to get it at zero cost, together with your Scarface 1920 game.

The Enforcers Expansion Pack is composed of three characters, with their three miniatures and their corresponding cards. What does this pack have exactly and what powers does Alina Ivankova have?

The Enforcers in multiplayer

The Enforcers are three special characters that players can recruit throughout the game, like we usually do with the Right Hands. The peculiarity is that they are part of a common market and that there are only three, so, as you can imagine, they are characters with outstanding skills, who have a notable impact in each game.

The Enforcers, as we said, will also have their own miniature and move around the board like the thugs. Their power on the board, that is, their strength on the streets of Chicago, lies in the fact that they all have a passive skill that can be activated at specific moments in the game. In addition, and as with vehicles, they cannot be eliminated from the game: they have come to the city to stay.

Each of the Enforcers comes with two additional cards: their Enforcer card, like that of the rest of the Right Hands, where their muscle and influence points are printed, as well as their skill and the effect it has on the crime rate; and a second card, where on one side we find how the mini works on the board in multiplayer games, and on the other, the specific rules of that Enforcer in solo games.

Another peculiarity of the Enforcers is that they can only be added to the gang after unlocking the first of your Right Hands. In other words, neither Alina nor the other Enforcers should appear in the early stages of the game. By the way, each player can have only one Enforcer in his band. Choose wisely from the three available and make sure your opponents don’t get the one you want first.

And what is Alina's power? The Russian fighter can use two different skills of her Boss, as her main skill. Her passive skill prevents her from being used in the plan phase along with the Boss, but she provides an infinite supply of guns in the district where she is located, to be used in neighborhood sales. And we've already said many times that guns are a lot harder to get than alcohol, right?

The Enforcers in solo mode

The second important new feature of this Expansion Pack has to do with the solo mode of Scarface 1920. The solo mode is based on a two-player game in which the other player is controlled by an AI (artificial intelligence) that builds a deck of cards with their own deck building system. This artificial intelligence will carry out its activity in Chicago like a player, but it will demonstrate a resource and organizational capacity superior to ours, forcing us to optimize our gang to the maximum to be able to overcome it.

With this Expansion Pack, the rival gang in solo mode will have the invaluable help of an Enforcer, whose miniature will be used to determine where the power of the rival gang is in the map. In this mode, as we have said before, the Enforcers have a card where their skills are explained, which have a different impact on the game: in solo mode, Alina Ivankova, for example, is capable of extorting the rival in the reorganization phase depending on the number of jobs he has. Don’t mess with her!

Once we have learned how to dominate our new Russian friend, we can face the other two Enforcers. We already see the next one on the Stretch Goals’ horizon: Tom Lee. Have we already told you that The Enforcers Expansion Pack is free for all Scarface 1920 backers on Kickstarter? By the way, don’t you think Alina Ivankova is the most awesome miniature in Scarface 1920? a) Yes; b) Sure, yes.

HOW TO PAINT THE FAMILY RING, BY BIGCHILD CREATIVES
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jun 30, 2021 at 11:31:27 AM

Hello, friends! Today we get in touch with you to explain something very interesting about the Scarface 1920 miniatures. As you know, all the minis in the game are made by Bigchild Creatives, who are responsible for such spectacular works as Marvel United (God, I love that Venom) or Zombicide (look how wonderful), among others.

Well, next Wednesday June 30, at 6:00pm CET, our colleagues from Bigchild Creatives will do an Instagram Live on their account in which they will paint the Family Ring, one of the most applauded miniatures of our Kickstarter campaign. Specifically, the acclaimed Ruben Martinez will be in charge of painting the Family Ring and, of course, answering all your questions.

For those of you who do not know Ruben Martinez, he has left us a few lines as an introduction:

“I was awarded the Slayer Sword in both 2010 and 2011, and I have been working as a professional miniature painter ever since. For some years now, I have been working alongside José Manuel Palomares and Hugo Gómez at Bigchild Creatives as a partner and Painting Department’s Director“.

Remember: Wednesday June 30, 6:00pm CET. By the way, follow the Bigchild Creatives Instagram channel if you want to see some of the Scarface 1920 miniatures painted, as there are going to be surprises in the next few days.

Remember also that Scarface 1920 has, as an Add-on, an additional miniature pack that includes 17 pieces. For those who want to cheer up on painting after seeing our colleague Ruben Martinez live… See you on Wednesday!

DOUBLE KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE UNLOCKED… AND ROAD TO THE ENFORCERS!
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jun 26, 2021 at 02:14:55 AM

A week after the Scarface 1920 Kickstarter campaign kicked off, you've already unlocked over 30 stretch goals. Some of these stretch goals have been widely applauded, such as the unique building models for each gang, the family ring or the News cards with real events of the time. In any case, I will repeat what I have said in previous updates: congratulations! In the last 24 hours, two more stretch goals have been unlocked, both Kickstarter Exclusive:

  •  New Job Card: Cops Party. In this case, while waiting to tune the effects that the card will have, we can assume that the players are going to pay the Chicago police a good party in exchange for some other favor. And we have already said it many times: in Scarface 1920 there is no one incorruptible, except Eliot Ness.
  •  New dealer: Gun Traffickers. Another thing that we have discussed in previous updates is that, if we talk about the resources of Scarface 1920, guns are more difficult to obtain than alcohol. Therefore, this dealer card is very important, since in exchange for a muscle point, the player can take three guns. In addition, this dealer also offers a storage point. Believe me: it is a very good card.

We already have two more stretch goals in the bag, although in this case I think the most important thing is not what we just achieved, but what is coming: Alina Ivankova, protagonist of Solo Mode and member of The Enforcers Expansion Pack. Let's go for it!
